Ned Tobin is a Renaissance man, a Jack of all trades. He's an artist and an engineer whose drive and vision breaks traditional concepts and blurs methods. His unique analytical perspective provides a structured reasoning layered with raw expression, leaving to the viewer an intriguing process of creation that goes hand in hand with creation itself.
From this, Ned explores through paint, photography, poetry, computer, electronics, digital media tools... He is a self published poet of two books of poetry, electricity is his familiar lifeline, he is an exhibited painter, he has produced a record as an acoustic singer/songwriter. He is constantly looking towards the source for inspiration; activist, outdoorsman, adventurer, and a positive beacon most of the time.
Ned explains: "I struggled for a long time trying to understand and be comfortable with my artistic shift from the guitar to more broadly include a camera, paintbrush, etc.. The simple truth is that if the purpose of creation is considered singularly, creation then becomes what matters most. The medium used is interesting, so is the response, but the more important matter at hand is for my self to get what's inside, out. Creating, being a creator, producing thoughts and concepts is what has become important to me."
"I have always loved the outdoors. When I was growing up in Northern British Columbia, my brothers and I were constantly building tree forts, collecting frogs or caterpillars, playing road hockey... My hope is that through my art, whether it's photographs of the Canadian Rockies, watercolour paintings of animals or an explicit poem, a greater appreciation of nature's beauty will be promoted."
Ned currently resides in British Columbia, Canada.
